Downtown Seattle Rooftop Styled Shoot with Kaleb Norman James Design

When one of your best friend is also your very favorite wedding designer, it’s basically like every day is Christmas.

When Kaleb mentioned us doing a styled shoot, I was 1,000% on board. If you haven’t seen his work, first – get your life together. Second, follow him on Instagram : @kalebnormanjames and just get lost for hours looking at the beautiful things he creates every weekend.

The styled shoot was planned for January 4th. Knowing Seattle, we were prepared for rain. But we got incredibly lucky with beautiful sunshine. Don’t let it fool you though, Madeline, our gorgeous model, was such a trooper because it was FREEZING.

The Hotel Sorrento in Downtown Seattle opened up their rooftop ballroom and outdoor space for us to use. Yessie Libby was our glam squad, and I just want her to help me get ready every day. BHLDN sent us two amazing dresses to use. Kaleb & his team created a table that I want to spend every meal eating at, along with a bouquet that gives me all of the heart eyes. Madeline Minkema could not have been a more perfect model for the shoot. Krissanna Elizabeth provided all of the invitations, menu cards, and paper goods.

The shoot was featured on Cake & Lace earlier this summer, and that was such a treat! To view the feature, click on this link :

These are truly some of my favorite images. Not only was I given the most beautiful things to photograph, there is something about shooting for fun that takes the stress off, and allows creativity to just flow!

Now, here are the images. I just want to jump into my computer every time I see one of these images. Love them so much!

Stacey & Brian : Ray’s Boathouse Wedding

Stacey & Brian are two of the best people I know. We met them just one year ago at a wedding we were shooting. Brian came up and asked for a business card, and the rest is history. Kyle & I met up with Stacey and Brian at Nordstrom Cafe to talk about their wedding & immediately knew that we wanted to be their photographers.

It is wild to think how a year has passed. But what I love even more is the fact that Stacey and Brian have become friends. We spent Easter together eating Kyle’s famous BBQ Chicken, and have shared many texts about The Blacklist. We all are addicted.

These two had a BEAUTIFUL wedding in June, and Seattle put on it’s best weather to make sure the outdoor ceremony was in no risk of being rained out. Their families welcomed me with big hugs and kind words.

We were able to take the couple & bridal party over to The Locks in Ballard for their first look & portraits. I LOVE shooting at the Locks because we always are able to find beautiful locations and the trees provide the most perfect shade on warm days! The ceremony and reception were held at Ray’s Boathouse. The ceremony overlooked the water and took place just as the sun was giving off some perfect golden light. The two locations could not have been more gorgeous!

We also were able to work alongside our favorite videographers, TSP Video Productions! They did a fantastic job on Stacey & Brian’s Highlight video! It’s always cool to see the wedding day unfold on video as well as in photos. It gives a completely different experience!

Let me show you some of my favorite photos of these two lovebirds.

Ola & Ryan : Downtown Seattle Wedding

Ola & Ryan. These two just celebrated their first anniversary. Their wedding was on May 10th, 2014. The day was sunny and perfect. We started the day at the Sheraton in downtown Seattle for some getting ready shots and the first look. Then we headed over to Court in the Square, for some portraits, and where the reception would be held later in the evening. The ceremony itself was held at St. George’s Parish.

The ceremony was sweet and included special details from family and friends. The shot of Ryan while Ola is walking down the aisle is one of my favorites. It goes to show that even with a “First Look”, the moment when a bride walks down the aisle will STILL be emotional, and still is one of the groom’s most special moments of the day. The bride that he has waited for is finally taking that walk to become his wife. What a sweet reaction, what a perfect moment.

Here are some of my favorite images from Ola & Ryan’s beautiful wedding!
