Arianna & Nick : Shooting Star Gardens Wedding : Maple Valley, WA

Nick & Arianna’s Maple Valley Wedding was one of our FAVORITES. These two are truly so kind and welcoming. Their wedding day was the same and people loved seeing these two say their vows and dance the night away!

We met these two over doughnuts a few years ago and talked about their upcoming wedding. They were the first couple we booked for 2018. Since their wedding, I’ve gone on breakfast and coffee dates with Ari. She’s one of the brides that not only was a client – but became a great friend. Kyle and Nick just laughed at me because during their wedding – I was trying to demonstrate a pose for Ari & Nick, and I ended up holding Ari’s hand. I DID NOT LET GO FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES…I was just talking and talking and not even realizing it. I knew in that moment that this girl was gonna be in my life for a long time.

Their wedding was full of beautiful, personal details. Their vows talked about the things they have been through and their relationship and all of the guests watched with smiles and tears in their eyes because these two are a perfect match. So grateful for these two and to have been part of such an important day!

Madison & Brayden : Shooting Star Gardens Wedding : Maple Valley, WA

Madison & Brayden.
I have endless amounts of love for these two and their families. Madison & Brayden’s Wedding day was one of the most incredible days. I was ready to put on a beautiful blue dress and become one of the bridesmaids because this bridal party was amazing & made us feel so welcome.
What I love most about weddings is that every wedding day can have the same traditional elements – but each couple and their family + friends is what truly makes the wedding day unique and one of a kind. One of my favorite moments from this wedding is that Madison & Brayden chose to read their handwritten vows privately to each other following their first look. We were able to photograph that moment for them – and I shared some tears during it.
The ceremony was full of celebration and emotion. As they walked back down the aisle, Brayden surprised Madison by picking her up and carrying her back down the aisle. What we didn’t know at the time – was that Brayden’s father did the exact same thing at his wedding to Brayden’s mom, Sheri. She posted a side-by-side of the two images on Facebook & it gave me goosebumps. It was a photo he had seen growing up & made this moment and photo even more special.
The toasts given by friends, siblings, and family members were all heartfelt and made everyone laugh & cry. At the end of the day, we got in the car & were so grateful for the friends we made & the things we get to witness each and every wedding day.
Our clients are something special. Just the best people you could ever meet.

Mabel McKinley Styled Shoot

A few months ago, I opened my Instagram and there was a notification in the top right corner. New Direct Message.

I opened a message from Sarah from Mabel McKinley – and was SO excited!

My friends had told me about their clothes and I had seen her social media posts. And she asked if I would be available to photograph their summer collection that would be coming out. While it didn’t work out for me to shoot their summer line – we set a date for the end of August knowing that it would be the ideal time for a shoot with some golden light and perfect weather!

Fast forward – we ended up working together for the Fall Clothing Launch and I cannot tell you how much fun that we had together!

We wandered around one of my favorite places to take photos – had a group of 5 BEAUTIFUL models, and racks + racks of Mabel’s gorgeous clothes! Sarah had communicated that she wanted an “urban” vibe for the images & we chose a place with lots of fun buildings and different walls!

To be completely honest – I was so nervous before the shoot. I photograph weddings, and families, and senior photos – but this is the first time that I would be working with models.

I could not WAIT to get home and get the images on my computer. It went PERFECTLY and I am so grateful for everyone working together to create such incredible images! I’m already ready for the next shoot!

Now – let’s show you these images!!!

Do We Need an Engagement Session?

The Engagement Session.

Do you need one? Do you even WANT one? What’s the big deal? Is it something you can live without?

Let me break down the reasons why the Engagement session is one of the best ways you can ensure to LOVE your wedding photos!

#1 : Get to Know Your Wedding Photographer

Every photographer works (shoots) differently. I have photographer friends, and they are wonderful! But we each have our own style and way of doing things. Your wedding day is one of the MOST important days in your life and the photos are going to be something you care about for years and years to come. Having a photographer there who you click with is very important.

This is one of the reasons that I highly recommend using your wedding photographer to photograph engagement photos. Even if you have a friend who has offered a free session – take it! But, don’t use it in replace of a session with your wedding photographer. Getting to know how YOUR photographer functions, photographs, & communicates will make you feel comfortable with them on the wedding day!

Your photographer is with you from when you are putting on your makeup & getting dressed – all the way until you are saying goodbye and getting in the car to drive away. It’s important you WANT them to be with you for these moments. If your photographer doesn’t make you feel comfortable? BAD SIGN. On your wedding day, you want to be surrounded by family & friends – your photographer should be one of them.

#2 : It allows you to get comfortable in front of the camera.

It is not uncommon for my clients to express a little anxiety about being photographed. Even us photographers can get a little nervous about being in front of the camera. The engagement session is like a trial run. It allows you to get used to how it feels to have a camera on you for more than just one photo at a birthday party.

It also allows you & your fiancé to get comfortable with a little PDA while being photographed. On a wedding day, there are family & friends around – this is the perfect time to get used to giving a kiss, or being snuggled up while having photos taken. The engagement session is very low stress & provides a way for you to be affectionate without an audience. Then – once the wedding day arrives, you will have seen just HOW good the photos look & will be eager to get snuggled up because you know just how sweet it is!

#3 : GREAT Pictures!

-Weddings are full of details. Guest books, invitations, thank you cards, wedding websites, bridal showers, and the list goes on! I have found that a lot of my brides like to use engagement sessions as “Save the Dates” or even in their invitations! I have also had brides use photos as decorations around the wedding, in slideshows, and they even have made an album of their engagement photos for friends to sign as a guestbook. By having some pretty photos of you and your fiancé, it could help out with little details. Who knows when you might need a beautiful photo!

#4 : It allows the GROOM to feel comfortable on the wedding day.

Most of the time – it is the bride who is doing the communicating with me regarding the wedding day. But grooms also feel nervous about being photographed, even if they don’t always show it. This is a way for the groom to get some time to know me in a relaxed setting & will make him feel better about the wedding day!

5.) You Will Learn What STYLE of Image You Love The Most

Each couple is different and the favorite images vary in style. Some of my couples love a candid photo where they are laughing. Others prefer a sweet and romantic photo that involves being wrapped up tight in an embrace. The engagement session will give you a variety of images so that you can see which style of photo you gravitate towards. I love when my clients tell me “I LOVE WHEN……” so that I can make sure to give them images in the style they prefer the most!

Now that you know the details! Let’s see the results! Here are some of my FAVORITE engagement photos!

So, let’s get YOUR engagement session on the calendar! Fill out the Contact Form on the website & I’ll get some open dates over to you!

Mackenzie & Colten : Olson Mansion Wedding

You are going to LOVE this Olson Mansion Wedding! Just a short drive from Seattle, this wedding venue offers so many beautiful locations on the property for photos and even a few different options for ceremony location.

Colten & Mackenzie’s Wedding was in September and we had the most perfect weather and beautiful light. Their handwritten vows made me cry and I don’t think I was the only guest with tears rolling down my cheeks. From Mackenzie’s first look with her grandpa – to Colten and Kenz’s first look – to running all over the property taking photos. This wedding has some of my all time favorite moments.

If you are looking for a local wedding venue, The Olson Mansion does not disappoint. It is lovely and the barn offers an indoor option in case of our sketchy Pacific Northwest Rain that sometimes surprises us!

Here are some of my favorite images from this BEAUTIFUL September Wedding!
