Best of Portraits : 2017

Best of Portraits : 2017

Am I really writing this blog again? I swear I JUST posted the 2016 year in review post last week….

In 8 years, the best part of the job is not only the photos we take – but the people we meet. As you look through this post, you will see families, baby bumps, kids, couples. You will see some people who we have photographed over and over again. Clients who have become our friends. Couples who had us photograph their wedding & now have us photograph their families. And you will see some people for the first time.

We will never get tired of these portrait sessions, because they are a chance for us to meet new people & see some others year after year!

This year we focused on bright, candid images! We LOVE the outfits our clients chose! Also – if you are planning a session, look at these families! Perfect proof that you don’t all have to wear the same color or pattern for your photos to look good! We also tried more and more to photograph at the times of the days with the most beautiful light in order to allow for even BETTER images!

As I created this post, it put into perspective how much can happen in a year. We are so grateful to the people who trusted us to photograph these moments for their families & in their lives. We know that getting updated photos in each season can feel like an investment, but I promise that it is one that you will be grateful that you have made. Not only do you deserve beautiful images of yourself and your lives, but photos are one of the best things that help us remember. When looking at these, I am instantly back into the moments that happened when I took the photos & I know the feeling is the same for our clients. So, if there is one thing that you can take from this – it’s that you deserve beautiful photos in EVERY season.

Now, let me introduce you to our beautiful clients.

The Lynch Family : Summertime Family Photos

Matt & Kristina have been together since high school & I remember watching them drive away from school and thought they were just the coolest. They have twin girls and this is the third time I’ve been able to photograph their beautiful family! The first time was in the fall, and the second time was in the winter with snow on the ground. It only made sense to have a summer shoot this time and capture some of the best weather that Washington has to offer. With the winter full of rain that we had this year, I was so ready for some golden sunshine and happy, warm people! The summer is just my fav!

These images are some of my very favorites and I am thinking you will love them as much as I do!

The Roesch Family : Summer Family Photos

Summer is the best, don’t you agree?

I mean, I also love rainy days at home snuggled up under some blankets with a bowl of popcorn and a good book. But – there is something so magical about warm sunshine that makes smiles bigger and the days longer. Plus, the golden light in summer is perfection.

Being able to photograph The Roesch Family is one of my favorite things. Photographing our best friends is something that makes me feel really happy! It’s so fun to be able to see the changes that happen in Croix between each photo shoot. And this one is definitely my favorite shoot to date.

Summertime Family Photo Shoots are my FAV.

The Roesch Family : Enumclaw Family Photographer

Liz, Connor, & Croix are 3 of our very favorite people. Not only are they some of our best friends, but we have been photographing their family for the last 4 years! From engagement sessions, to their wedding, to now them welcoming their son into the world. We have been there for some very important milestones!

I’ve been a little behind on the blogging lately. #weddingseason

But I wanted to show you a little bit of a few of our sessions with this beautiful family! You can view their maternity photos here.

We were able to visit them in Enumclaw at the hospital the day Croix was born. I LOVED being there to capture some of these sweet first moments! Then, a few days later we did a newborn session in their home! Followed by a summer Golden Hour Session when Croix was 4 months old! It’s so much fun to watch a family grow in front of my camera, even better when that family is one of our favorites.

Let me show you some photos of this beautiful family!

The Jensen Family : Maple Valley Photographer

When people ask me how I started my business, I always get to reflect back and think of the beginning of the story.

Enter Michelle of Michelle Jensen Photography. One day I decided to ask her if she was looking for an assistant for any of her shoots and weddings, or if there was anything she would be willing to teach me about photography. She was warm, kind, and inviting. She allowed me to work under her for about a year. From assisting her at weddings, to shoots, and lots of coffee dates chatting about editing, shooting, and the business side of photography.

Michelle, thank you. Thank you for sharing your time, your talent, your wisdom, and your skills with me. Thank you for allowing me to ask questions, and cheering me on. Thank you for being a huge part of my story.

Michelle is still the person I call when I need an answer to a question. From a hard e-mail received, to a rainy day back-up plan, to a pep talk when I am discouraged. We have learned how to support one another and cheer each other on. I am so glad that we have become photographers that don’t compete, but instead have created a friendship.

When Kyle & I got married, we both knew that we trusted Michelle to take our wedding photos. She was there for all of our milestones. From our proposal, to engagement photos, and our wedding day, she captured it all.

A few weeks ago, I got to return the favor for her and take some photos of her beautiful family. I am in love with the images we created, let me show you her BEAUTIFUL family!

We decided to meet at Golden Hour for some beautiful light at one of my favorite locations!
